Apple Crisp

This Apple Crisp is a Betty Crocker classic recipe. After Don tried it, he said no less than three times that it was, "Really good." I knew he would like it. Apples + brown sugar + cinnamon + butter = Fall.

Apple Crisp

4 medium tart cooking apples like McIntosh, Honeycrisp or Granny Smith, sliced (I used some nice, big McIntosh ones)
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup old-fashioned oats (or quick cooking oats)
1/3 cup butter, softened
3/4 t. ground cinnamon
3/4 t. ground nutmeg

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease bottom and sides of an 8-inch square pan with shortening or PAM.
2. Spread apple slices in pan. In a medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients together until well mixed; sprinkle over apples.
3. Bake about 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
4. Serve warm (with vanilla ice cream if desired). Serves 6.
