What in the world was our mother doing? That's what my children would say if they randomly came across this photo after I was dead. So I'll explain.
It was the spring of 1980. I was a bat girl for the University of Akron baseball team. We were headed to Jacksonville, Florida for spring training games.
The bat girls were in one van and the baseball team was split into two other vans. The coaches were drivers.
Our van would occasionally pass the team vans and the team vans would pass our van, and we would all wave out the windows and laugh. We thought it would be funny if we all painted mustaches on our upper lips with someone's mascara for one of the passing by's. That's what we looked liked.
Later on, we dipped into our roll of toilet paper (not sure why we had that) and a red marker to add a more dramatic effect. The baseball team just loved us. In case you can't figure it out, I'm in the bottom right corner.
